Imagine your perfect beach? There are 365 beaches in Antigua so you are bound to find it while holidaying here. Here are 8 of my favourites…
A stretch of white, powdery sand approximately half a mile long, located on the North Westerly tip of the island. The beach is well positioned for drinks and eateries. Resorts nearby include Starfish Halcyon Cove (previously Halcyon Cove by Rex Resorts). A wonderful restaurant juts out to sea on stilts, the Warri Pier, which is a delightful place to dine and watch the magnificent sunset. Click on the links to read my full solo reviews.
2. Galleon Beach
Galleon Beach at English Harbour, in the south of the island, is a small bay great for snorkelling. I saw a hawksbill turtle when I came here. It is quite common to see turtles and rays in this area apparently. There are walking trails behind the beach too which take you around to the Pillars of Hercules. I was brought here by boat when I stayed at an amazing room only resort, Admiral’s Inn.
3. Ffryes Beach
A soft, white sand beach with clear water on the West coast of Antigua. Close to bars, restaurants and the Starfish Jolly Harbour Resort too.
4. Jolly Beach
Arguably one of the best beaches in Antigua. A long stretch of white sand on the West coast, with crystal clear water. Shops and bars are dotted along the beach. Starfish Jolly Beach Resort is located here which is a great place to come on a solo holiday. Click on the link to read my full review.
5. Long Bay
Long Bay is positioned on the Eastern coast of Antigua, the Atlantic side. The beach is protected by a ring of coral keeping the water mostly calm. The coral provides good snorkelling and the resort Pineapple Beach Club is located here. Click on the link to read my full review of the hotel.
6. Mamora Bay
One of the calm, picturesque beaches at the St James Club resort. The beach is horseshoe shaped and popular for watersports due to the still water.
7. Crab Hill Beach
I had a lovely meal at OJ’s Beach Bar and Restaurant and walked along this beach afterwards. The beach is so beautiful I had my photo made into a canvass for my home. A lack of crowds, clear turquoise water and powdery white sand make this beach truly beautiful.
8. Seagrape Beach
One of the 4 beaches around the Hawksbill Resort on the West coast of Antigua. A quiet, secluded, golden sand beach with amazing sunsets and views of Hawksbill rock. Click on the link to read my full solo holiday review at this resort.
