Borough Market is London’s oldest food market.  It is a great place to come just for a wander, even if you don’t necessarily want to buy anything.  Though personally, I find it great for buying gifts for people as you can buy things that are a bit more unusual.  Be prepared for sensory overload, whatever your reasons for visiting!!

I have visited Borough Market on many occasions.  There are many different types of stalls selling food and drink from countries all over the world.  As you enter the market you immediately start to smell the food cooking from the large pans.

There are seating areas around the edge, making it a very easy place to watch the world go by as a solo traveller, as well as sampling some of the fabulous dishes being cooked around the market.

Taster portions of different food and drink for sale is on offer.  So don’t arrive with a full stomach!  It’s great to try before you buy and sample some things you have never had before.

The smells from the steaming, spiced juice and other hot drinks was mouthwatering.

The market is a bustling place and gets very crowded and noisy in peak times.  I love to listen to the different languages being spoken by the people you pass and hearing the market traders shouting out, telling you about their special offers of the day.
