Shelly Beach Manly is an idyllic tucked away cove with perfect snorkelling conditions. It is a mixture of shingle and sand and benefits from some wonderful walking areas behind it.
The water here is generally calm, perfect for swimming, paddle boarding or snorkelling.
Beach barbecues are available for use free of charge. These are generally left very clean and need to be left the same way. Disinfectant bbq wipes are available from the nearby supermarket, Coles, in Manly.
Restaurants near Shelly Beach
Restaurants are located beside the beach and further along by Cabbage Tree Bay. The Bower is a great place to stop for a meal or refreshments and is consistently busy. The outdoor seating overlooks the ocean. You may be lucky enough to spot whales breaching in September/October time from here. A charming little gift shop is next door too. A wider choice of restaurants are available a 10 minute walk away in Manly.
If you have a bit of a fear of the ocean but would really like to take a dip then try the rock pool at Fairy Bower. This is just a 5 minute walk from Shelly Beach, along the paved area to Manly Beach. Fairy Bower rock pool was built by locals almost 100 years ago and it is a great place to cool down. Toilets and changing areas are nearby for convenience too.
