Slightly larger than the waterfront rooms are the beachfront rooms.  They comprise one kingsize bed or 2 double beds, flat screen TV and a shower/bathtub.  Rooms have private patios or balconies.

Premium Oceanview Rooms

390 sq ft – Newly refurbished rooms with a kingsize bed, flatscreen tv, vanity area, bathroom with shower/bath and private balcony with views.

Oceanview Rooms

Three-story building with a king-sized bed, shower/bath with separate vanity area, and private patio or balcony with ocean views

Gardenview Rooms

These rooms are in two, 2-storey buildings in beautiful gardens.  They have a king size or 2 double beds, flat screen tv and a shower/bath.  Rooms have private patios or balconies.

I stayed in one of these rooms.  The bed was comfortable, I had a large shower cubicle, outside patio with table and chairs.  The TV had a good reception and the air-conditioning unit was very effective.  I also had a safe in my room which was free of charge.  Unfortunately, I was not able to access wifi from my room unless I paid for it and there wasn’t a fridge.  The room was a stone’s throw away from the relaxing, hammock area.

Pool Terrace Rooms

300-325 sq ft.  Once again, the rooms have been refurbished and are in 2 storey buildings close to one of the pools.  Rooms comprise a queen bed, flat screen tv, walk-in shower, private patio or balcony.

Free wifi was available in the seating area by the gift shop, where the resident tortoises are.

A library close to reception where you can exchange books.

The Beach

The arc shaped, white sand beach, Long Bay, is protected by coral reef so generally the water is calm and a great place to snorkel in, with plenty of fish to see at one end of the beach.  Snorkelling equipment is available free of charge from the watersports guys as part of the all inclusive plan.  There are a few floating aids in the sea for guests to use.  Other free non-motorised watersports are available such as kayaking and windsurfing.

Dining Options

Topaz – Self-Serve Buffet

Overlooking the ocean, is this casual restaurant serving a variety of wonderful dishes.

Breakfast here includes eggs, bacon, beans, an omelette bar, hot and cold cereals, toast, fruit and pastries.

At lunchtime and in the evening, a wide range of dishes are served including soups, meat, fish and vegetarian options with rice, potatoes, vegetables, salads and desserts. Food is of a high standard, varied and delicious.

Pelican Snack Grill

A lady here, sometimes single-handedly cooks everyone’s burgers, hotdogs, fries etc and she does a great job.  Other foods include chips, fries, pizzas, muffins and cookies. The food is cooked to order and is very good, no wonder there is often a queue and people don’t mind waiting.

The Outhouse

My favourite place for lunch was the Outhouse enjoying spectacular views.  It is set on the hillside and you have a choice of excellent bbq meats, fish, corn and salad.  Reception arrange a ride to take you there as it is quite a walk up hill in the heat!  They will bring you back as well, if required, but it is actually nice to walk as the views are spectacular and its all downhill!

2 other restaurants are on resort but I did not try them.  One is Italian, Chef Pietros and the other, Caribbean, Pineapple Grill which is open 4 nights a week.

Various activities and games are organised around the main pool during the daytime, including water aerobics, hot dog eating competitions and pool games.  There is no pressure to join it but, it can be fun to watch if you are travelling alone.

Swimming Pools

There are 2 freshwater pools at this resort.  One is lively, located next to the snack bar with music playing and organised activities. The other is much quieter on the other side of the resort.

The hotel offers non-motorised water sports as part of the all inclusive package.  You can also borrow snorkelling equipment from here.  The guys that work in the watersports hut on the beach are really helpful, Keith and Kevin.  Kevin offered to take me out snorkelling on the reef if he wasn’t too busy the next day, as I was on my own and didn’t want to venture out too far.

Additionally, in the hotel grounds there is a spa, gym, table tennis table, pool table and a gift shop

Evening Entertainment

Evening entertainment is provided around the bar area.  It doesn’t start until around 9pm which I found a little late travelling on my own.  I wanted something to look at while I was in the bar area.  Entertainment consisted of a band, karaoke and a folk singer during my stay.

Would I Return?

I really enjoyed my stay here but probably wouldn’t return for a solo holiday because..

  • Lack of things to do locally
  • Entertainment started at 9pm

However if that does not bother you, then I think it is a good resort to come to for the following reasons..

  • Superb food
  • Nightly entertainment
  • 2 pools, one quiet, one lively
  • Great beachfront location
  • Friendly staff
  • Good watersport options
