About The Avocado Show

This exciting and unique restaurant prides itself on using avocados grown in an eco friendly way that are transported in a socially responsible way. The farmers and growers used are family businesses in Chile, Mexico, South Africa and Peru who have been growing avocados for many generations.

The Restaurant

The restaurant is very popular and I recommend arriving early for a table as reservations are not accepted. I arrived at 11:45am on a Sunday and had to wait half an hour for a table for 1. By the time my table was ready, the queue was very long with waiting times of an hour. Queue up behind the sign and the server will come to take your telephone number and will call you when your table is ready. This enables you to wander around without having to wait in line.

The Seating Area

The restaurant is quite small with a large neon sign being the focal point of one wall. Shelves filled with plants and cookery books available for purchase are mounted on the walls. Each of the glass topped, wooden dining tables has a cactus on top. As a solo diner it was interesting to watch the cocktails being made in the bar area that leads to the open kitchen.

The Menu

Egg Dishes

Prices start from Euros 13.25 for dishes such as…

The Smokey Salmon – smoked salmon, avocado, hollandaise sauce, mixed leaves and flowers and 2 poached eggs, served in 2 avocado halves with an English muffin on the side.

Other egg dishes are as above, but with bacon or sautéed spinach instead of the smoked salmon.

A choice of sweet or savoury pancakes starting from Euros 12.25

Served with avocado, blueberries, flowers and maple syrup or avocado, bacon, banana, blueberries, flowers and maple syrup.

From Euros 10 the toast comes with a variety of toppings including these vegan choices…

  • Red beet hummus, pickled beets, black sesame seeds and beet leaves, served with an avocado rose on top.
  • Grilled courgette, eggplant, bell peppers, avocado & pesto on toast.

Also from Euros 10 there are healthy bowls of goodness to choose from such as the Tropicana Bowl – Coconut yogurt with avocado, banana, agave, pistachio, mango, kiwi and roasted flakes of coconut.

Specials – start from Euros 13.25

  • The Vegan Paradise – Avocado poke bowl, sushi rice, mango, wakame, edamame, cucumber and soy sauce served with a choice of mango or wasabi mayonnaise
  • The Avo Garden – Avocado stuffed with hummus, spices, flowers and cresses, served with a bagel.

I chose the Bun Burger – 2 half buns of avocado, black Angus beef, crispy bacon, rocket, tomato, red onion, grill sauce and an extra topping of cheese (recommended), served with triple dip nachos.

My main course

The food was delicious. The beef was cooked to perfection and the patty was made to fit the soft and creamy avocado halves.

Side Dishes from Euros 6.25

These include avocado fries – panko breaded avocado fries served with truffle, mango or wasabi mayo.

Desserts ranged from Euros 7.50-8.50

  • Avocado and choc chip ice cream served on black cones
  • The Very Berry Waffle – sugar waffle with raspberries, blueberries, chocolate and fresh mint served with an avocado rose on top.

I chose the Oreo Cheesecake – Oreo cookies, cream cheese, vanilla, berry coulis, avocado and lemon. This dish was a wonderful contrast of textures and flavours – a crunchy Oreo base and topping with a creamy centre topped with sweet, plump blueberries, raspberries and a tart coulis.

Tap water is provided for the table on request. A range of cocktails and soft drinks, teas and coffees are also available. Signature cocktails, of course, have avocado in them!

The hosts seemed to enjoy their work. They were happy and friendly and made recommendations when asked. The meal was well spaced out. I did not feel rushed at any point, even though it was busy with plenty of people waiting for a table. Food was served with a smile.
