Sydney hotels come in all shapes and sizes to suit all budgets. There are plenty of hostels around, Air BnB is popular and there are lots of hotels in good, central locations. The two hotels I chose were very reasonably priced and I think they are ideal for solo travellers.
Unless you are keen to unpack your suitcase just once on your trip, it might be worth considering more than one hotel to explore different areas. For example, I spent the majority of my time in Manly but also booked an overnighter in The Hunter Valley. Just as well since there are a number of wine tours and tasting available in this region!
The Sebel Manly Beach, Sydney
For this trip I wanted to be based around Manly, a popular beach suburb on the Northern peninsula. I decided to stay at The Sebel Manly Beach due to its beachfront location, close proximity to the shops and restaurants and competitive price at the time of booking. It felt very safe walking back to it at night time alone. There are hotel room options or studios. The studio I stayed in had was outstanding and I would definitely come back here to stay. Pokolbin Village, Hunter Valley
I spent one night at the Hunter Valley vineyards and stayed in a hotel resort called Pokolbin Village. Pokolbin Village is a 40 acre resort. Although I visited this area with a family member, it is ideal for the solo traveller. The tours you can go on pick you up and return you to the hotel. There were lots of chalet style cabins around the grounds with shops and restaurants nearby and a swimming pool and tennis courts too. Barbecue areas are available for use if you don’t want to go to one of the restaurants. The pool is very useful at some times of the year. I went in September which is just the start of Spring but apparently the temperatures can sometimes get up to the high 40s…or more!!
