Manly Beach Sydney
One of the most popular beaches in Sydney is Manly beach. It is a stunning long stretch of white sand and is a surfer’s paradise. A large paved area runs the length of it from one end, the North Steyne, through to the South Steyne and then, further, on to Shelly Beach.
Fitness along Manly Beach
Manly Beach is a fitness fanatic’s delight. Early morning you can see a mix of joggers, dog walkers, yoga and boxing classes, tight rope walking, skippers, swimmers, surfers and paddle boarders working out along this shoreline.
There is also a beach volleyball court available for use free of charge.
During the day here, the lifeguards patrol a secure area that is safe for swimming and body boarding between 2 flags. Best to stay between the flags as the rips are dangerous.
The sunrises here in Manly are amazing and it is not uncommon to spot dolphins and whales breaching here.
Changing Facilities at Manly Beach
Located on South Steyne, on the beachfront, are toilets, showers and changing facilities. They are also available on North Steyne.
Filtered Water along Manly Beachfront
Several filtered water stations are positioned along the beachfront so that you can refill your water bottle free of charge. A much more hygienic way than using the not so popular bubblers.
A cafe is located at South Steyne too, perfect for a coffee or an ice cream. But many other snacks and healthy bites to eat are available here too! Plenty of other cafes and restaurants are open opposite the beach and in backstreets off the corso.
Tips for Manly Beach!
Be aware that there isn’t any shade on the beach and I have never seen sunbeds available for hire. It is a case of making sure you have plenty of strong sunscreen, bringing your own umbrella if necessary and a towel to lay on. I also noticed if often became quite windy around 3-4pm!!
