Sydney is not only a vibrant, exciting city to visit as a solo traveller, it is blessed with unique wildlife and superb beaches too. Within a 2 hour drive you can visit the breathtaking Blue Mountains or the vast Hunter Valley with its open cellar doors. Here are a selection of my favourite photos of Sydney taken from my holidays…
You will be able to see the Australian Five by visiting the various zoos around the city. If you are lucky, you may see some in the wild too.
Iconic Buildings in Sydney
Whenever you see photos of Sydney, iconic buildings such as the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge feature in many of them. The Opera House looks particularly spectacular during Vivid, the annual festival of light when images are projected onto it at night.

The Hunter Valley is a vast wine region in Australia where at times, temperatures soar in the high 40s. Sample wines, cheeses and other delights and view the kangaroos hopping around in the wild.
When you think about Sydney beaches, Bondi and Manly are the two main ones that spring to mind. But, there are plenty of others to choose from which are a little less well known…
The Blue Mountains are breathtakingly beautiful. It is a wonderful place to come to for a day trip or longer. It is hard to believe you are so close to the city. Walk through the rainforest, admire waterfalls and ride the world’s steepest passenger railway.
