MUSEUMS IN LONDON

The good thing about Museums in London is that the majority offer free admission and you can spend as little or as long as you like there.   I find them great places to spend a couple of hours.  I  usually combine it with another activity or some good food when I travel solo.  A couple of free museums to look out for are:

Victoria & Albert Museum – Art & Design, South Kensington

A large museum offering free daily tours and talks, hands-on activities with around 60,000 objects on display!  There are also 3 cafes and 4 shops here.  Some of the free exhibitions include:

The Natural History Museum, South Kensington

Another of my favourite museums to come to is the Natural History Museum.  Once again, it is free to enter but there are some exhibitions which ask for an entrance fee.  The museum is open daily from 10am, with last admission at 5:30pm.  It is closed 24th-26th December. As soon as you enter the museum prepare for the huge skeleton of a blue whale suspended from the ceiling…

I find the architecture in this museum alone, fascinating.  Look at the detail on one of the pillars…

The Clink Prison Museum

clink street, clink prison museum, museums in London,
The Clink Prison was one of the earliest prisons in London dating back to 1144.  A short activity to do in London which gives you a great insight into the dreadful conditions prisoners had to put up with!  Read my full review by clicking on the link below. The Clink Prison Museum
