Brazilian Restaurant in London
Preto, Soho, is a Brazilian Restaurant offering a fun, unique, eat as much as you like dining experience in the heart of London’s West End…
Open Mon-Thur 12pm-11:30pm Fri & Sat 12pm-12am Sun 12pm-11pm
I was greeted by a member of staff and offered a table by the window. The restaurant was inviting, fitted out with bold painted furniture and Latin American music playing. The main focal point was the ‘eat as much as you like’ buffet under the wooden tree!
This Brazilian restaurant is one of several branches in the UK and has been open for approximately 11 years. The idea is that you can eat as much as you like either paying for the hot and cold buffet at £19.95 or £21.95 to include the buffet and unlimited meat. This is known as the Rodizio Experience.
Preto’s Cold Buffet
The cold buffet included baguette, salad leaves, dressings, pickles, olives, pulses and baby potatoes in a mild marinade.
Preto’s Hot Buffet
The hot buffet includes tempting dishes such as fried vegetable or plain rice, Brazilian beans, fried banana, fried cauliflower, feijoada (Brazilian beans with pork sausage) and cassava.
The Rodizio Experience
Each table is provided with a two sided card to help you pace your meal. When you require more meat, show the green side. When you want to have a food break, turn it over so the red side is visible.
A wide selection of meats are brought over to each table displaying the green card. These have been spit roasted and are then carved and served tableside by the passador from giant skewers. Meats offered included two types of sausage, one spicy and one homemade, several varieties of beef such as peppered and sirloin, chicken wings and thighs, lamb and ribs. Each was flavoured with its own special marinade, was succulent and cooked to perfection. Get ready to use your tongs to add the meat to your plate!
A selection of soft drinks are available from £2.45 and cocktails start at £7.95.
A selection of desserts are available including brigadeirao, a rich chocolate pudding, guava cheesecake and pineapple rings with crunchy cinnamon sugar and smooth vanilla ice cream. Desserts start from £3.
Preto in Soho offers friendly service. The menu and dining procedure was explained clearly. The meat waiter or passador, was professional and happy to wait to carve until I had taken photographs.
Would I Return?
I loved dining here and will definitely return for the following reasons…
- Every piece of food I tasted was delicious, tender and full of flavour.
- The staff were friendly, efficient and professional.
- There were lots of small tables positioned by the windows so it was great for solo diners to people watch.
- The restaurant was very clean as were the toilets.
Good to Know…
It is worth noting that at the time of my visit, a 20% discount was available for those heading to the theatre or cinema. Simply show staff your tickets.
Some branches offer a lunch menu, Monday to Friday. The buffet costs £6.95 and the mini rodizio experience, with up to 6 meats is priced at £10.95. Soho do not offer this option currently. Preto’s website shows the current offers available at each branch.
