Chocolateria San Gines, Pasadizo de San Gines, 5, 28013 Madrid
Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
Some days you just need to eat something sweet. So when in Madrid, there is no other place than Chocolateria San Gines to tick that box!

Location
Chocolateria San Gines was founded in 1894. It is located close to the Puerto del Sol in a tucked away, narrow, alleyway.

Seating Areas
You can choose to sit inside if you prefer. However, outdoors there a couple of areas with small tables facing out into the street which is good if you are snacking alone.

Food
There is plenty of food choice here, even though Churros seem to be the most popular. Food is ordered and paid for indoors at the counter and they bring your food over when it is ready. Dishes are very reasonably priced too, ranging from Euros 1.60 to 16.00. Choices include…
- Eggs with bacon
- A selection of muffins – chicken with mayonnaise & caramelised onion or jamon iberico
- Spanish omelette
- Small sandwiches
I highly recommend ordering the churros. They are light on the inside with a crisp exterior. When dipped in the accompanying thick, hot, dark chocolate sauce, the taste is incredible!

Would I Return?
I will definitely seek this place out again next time I am in Madrid. It is a great place to come for a casual breakfast or snack if you are by yourself. The churros are amazing and it offers great value for money. Chocolateria San Gines is a ‘must visit’ place when travelling to Madrid.
