About the restaurant, Il Ragno Blu
Il Ragno Blu is a charming, family run restaurant serving modern, International and traditional Sardinian dishes, as well as a wide range of wood fired pizzas. It benefits from being in an elevated position with far reaching views over the Sardinian countryside and the bay of Santo Stefano. Il Ragno Blu is a beautiful place to dine and watch the sun go down.
Seating Area at Il Ragno Blu
The main dining hall is accessed via a number of steps. It is brightly lit by the chandeliers and surrounded by large windows which slide right back allowing a breeze to filter through.
Menu choices include many seafood dishes including some Sardinian favourites…
- Mussel & Arselle soup
- Risotto with cuttlefish ink
- Vernaccia bass with olives, potatoes and tomatoes
Wood fired pizzas include the following types…
- Speck and rocket
I chose the lobster with spaghetti and it was outstanding. The pasta was al dente and full of flavour and the lobster was succulent and cooked to perfection. The portion size was enormous and I was pleased I had ordered the starter to come out as a main course. The lobster was brought to the table on a platter…
… and then a portion served to me by the waitress tableside.
Il Ragno Blu has in the past attracted customers such as Gorbachev and Versace.
Food here is generally very reasonably priced, however, the lobster was expensive at Euros 45. There was a cover charge of Euros 2.50 for bread and the glass of white wine I had was very good, costing just Euros 4. I noticed on the menu that the pizzas cost around Euros 15.
Staff and service
The staff here were very professional, efficient and friendly. My drink and bread was served promptly and my waitress made sure to check I was happy with my meal.
Would I return?
I would love to return to Il Ragno Blu if I return to Villasimius for the following reasons…
- There was a mixed clientele of Italians and tourists
- Traditional Sardinian dishes were served
- Food was outstanding
- Lovely window seats to look out and watch the sunset – these seats are great for solo dining
- Friendly and professional staff
