Hotel Cala Caterina is a 4* luxury hotel with spa facilities. It is set within park-like grounds which extend to the unspoilt beach and crystal clear sea.
Facilities at Hotel Cala Caterina
Breakfast is served buffet style. Decide whether you want to sit inside, outdoors under cover or in the open air section under olive trees. The waiter will escort you to a free table and take an order of tea or coffee. Then head to the unlimited, self-serve buffet. The food quality and choice here is excellent. There are various jugs of fresh juice which the waiter prepares before your eyes. Food choices include cereal, fresh fruit, meat, cheese, bread, salmon, eggs and bacon.
Lunch is served undercover next to the bar area, overlooking the pool. Portions are large!! Dishes include fish, salads, pasta and steaks. Complimentary crisp carasau and guttiau bread, are served on arrival. Food quality is excellent.
Dinner is served from7:45pm-9:30pm every evening. A set menu is available for those people who are resident on a half board basis and an a la carte menu for non residents or for those staying for bed and breakfast. Dinner is served where breakfast is taken. The outdoor dining area was my favourite, sitting under an olive tree under the stars by lantern light.
There are some fabulous International dishes and traditional Sardinian dishes prepraed at Hotel Cala Caterina. The quality is first class.
The bar area has an indoor area with comfortable lounge seating or an undercover, open air loggia complete with wicker furniture with padded seats. The tables are positioned around a piano and a pianist plays from 7:30pm nightly during peak season. There was a different pianist each night during my stay playing music from classical, modern, pop, latin and reggae. The tables are well spaced out and the area is very casual. It was a great bar to come to alone and 4 nights out of 5, the entertainment was excellent.
The peaceful pool area is ideal for taking a dip or lap swimming. Sun loungers and umbrellas are available for use and towels are provided.
4. Lighthouse Beauty Centre and Spa
Open daily from 9-1 and 3-7pm with a choice of treatments, massages and Turkish baths.
There are 2 hammocks under a number of mature trees that sway in the breeze, perfect for a lazy couple of hours with a good book or a snooze.
Spiaggia Cala Caterina has golden sand and gin coloured water. Sun loungers with canopies are provided free of charge for hotel guests. The beach is popular for snorkelling.
7. Free wifi
Free wifi is available throughout the whole resort.
Rooms at Cala Caterina

A bath robe and slippers is also provided as well as reverse cycle air-conditioning units which allow you to control the temperature of your room. Some rooms cater for larger parties. The comfort room I stayed in was elegant and luxurious.
Staff at Cala Caterina
Reception is open 24 hours a day and the staff that work here are very friendly and helpful. They are willing to book excursions, taxis and restaurants for you at no extra charge.
The waiters in the restaurant and bar area are polite, friendly and professional. Drinks are always served promptly with a smile. Help is offered regarding the menu choices if required. In the bar area, the waiters also offer exceptional service. On one of the quieter evenings, one of the bartenders was helping me perfect my limited use of Italian and teaching me some more.
